We have provided easier access to the Professional edition of BIP by placing a link on the Virtual Library page on Voyager. I have also fixed the “Search the Library Catalog” button. It now works!

We have finally been able to fix the link in Books In Print (from the patron’s link) so it will now search our library catalog. Patrons can choose the “Search My Library’s Catalog link at the top of the book record page. It will take the patron into the brief list of titles in the catalog where they can select the correct format they are interested in.

New changes are coming in November to BIP. Here is what they hope to do and what it may look like:
- Improve the reliance of Books In Print to patrons and students
- Embrace new search technologies without alienating current users
- Embrace user-generated content, i.e., “Library 2.0″
- Import all Books In Print “properties” (i.e., Books In Print, Global Books In Print, Spanish Books In Print, etc.) into one interface
- Allow seamless integration of all existing Books In Print functionality, such as reader’s advisory
- Embrace visual faceted searching through the popular AquaBrowser search and discovery platform
