In the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) there is a wonderful six volume set which explains the history of an idea. Often students will need to find information about an ‘idea’ such as “gesture”. The book provides an over view of the concept then provides a study of gestures followed by gestures found in art. Each article comes with a bibliography and hyperlinks into other articles with related content.
If you have never looked at this reference tool, I urge you to do so.
