I’m looking for a book about Sucrets. He’s a philosopher.
Socrates, whose name literally means “revealing excellence,” was born in Athens around 470 BCE and is considered the father of philosophy. He is known to modern readers only through the written works of other philosophers and historians. In fact, it’s unclear whether Socrates himself ever wrote down any of his philosophical views. Yet almost every era saw in him a precursor of its own ideas and values, and a model of wisdom and morality.
To learn more about Socrates and other philosophers, see the Ancient Greece and Rome: An Encyclopedia for Students or Arts and Humanities Through the Eras. Both are available as eBooks in the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
