Transparent Language Online is Now Available

If your patron already has a library Zinio Magazine account, they can use the same email address and password to access their Transparent Language Online account.

NOTE: LIBRARY COMPUTERS WILL ASK FOR A BARCODE. Once you enter a barcode and PIN, bookmark the page you land on and use the bookmark link so you don’t have to enter a barcode.

 

New Databases for 2012-2013

Thanks you to all librarians who took our surveys. Based on your input we have done some swapping of databases and added a couple of new ones.  Please take a look at the following databases, try them out and recommend them to your patrons.

PowerSpeak Languages replaces Auralog

Rocket Languages

Please try out Rocket Languages and compare it to Tell Me More and PowerSpeak.

Once you are logged in, you will be in the administrative portal. You will be able to see the usage reports here; it is very intuitive. You will see this registration URL in the bottom left corner: http://www.rocketlanguages.com/?libID=Y2NTBjNzI . This is the link you place on your library website. The Registration URL is currently “live” for library staff testing purposes.

Create an account using your barcode number and name for your first visit. Currently, only library cards  beginning with prefix 21133 will work.

Please test the system as soon as possible.

Our library has a 90 day Free Trial so it spans from May 9, 2012 – August 7, 2012.
We need to make our decision within the next couple of weeks so we need your feedback ASAP.

They have added some new features and upgrades, as well as a new language course: English for Spanish Speakers. The new software upgrades include the implementation of “Rocket Record,” which is a voice comparison technology that allows patrons to speak into their computer and compare their pronunciation to a native speaker.

You can also download MP3 audio files to your MP3 player to practice with while on the go.

They also have games to practice with, below is a couple of pictures from the German section.

Tell Me More New Interface

Since we are evaluating language databases, we have learned that Tell Me More has a new user an updated user interface and is much easier to navigate for your patrons. Below I have a link that you can login and see it.
